where you are.

Sofia Maria Petricca · Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MA

A compassionate, integrative practice combining psychodynamic, person-centered, and somatic work. I support adults and couples working through anxiety, family-of-origin patterns, identity, and the long, quiet work of healing.

About

I'm Sofia — a psychotherapist working from a place of curiosity and care.

I work with clients longing to understand the deeper roots of their emotional struggles and reconnect with their authentic selves. Through a psychodynamic, somatic, and client-centered lens, I offer a compassionate space to explore how early relationships and unconscious patterns continue to live in the body and mind.

Together, we'll uncover the impact of childhood dynamics, gently working through stored emotional pain to foster insight, nervous-system regulation, and inner transformation. I'll meet you wherever you are — with curiosity, respect, and unconditional positive regard for your unique healing process.

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) under clinical supervision, I draw on an integrative approach: psychodynamic, person-centered, and cognitive-behavioural therapies, informed by somatic healing and inner-child work. If this resonates with you, I'd be honoured to support you.

How we work together

Therapeutic approaches

I draw on several modalities and tailor the work to what you need most. Most sessions blend more than one — the boundaries between these traditions are often softer in practice than they look on paper.

Psychodynamic

Exploring how early relationships and unconscious patterns shape present-day experience, with space to feel and understand what has often gone unspoken.

Person-Centered

A foundation of unconditional positive regard — meeting you with curiosity and respect, on your terms, at your pace.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT)

Identifying the thought patterns and behaviours keeping you stuck, and working together to reshape them with practical, evidence-based tools.

Somatic

Attending to how emotional experience lives in the body, supporting nervous-system regulation and gentle release of stored stress.

Emotionally Focused

Working with the emotional bonds underneath conflict — particularly powerful in couples work — to rebuild secure connection.

Who I work with

Populations & focus areas

Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. Different stages of life and different identities bring their own questions, weight, and texture. Below are the groups I most commonly support — but please reach out if you don't see yourself listed.

Adults

Individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity, and the long shadow of family-of-origin dynamics.

Adolescents (16+)

Older teens working through school stress, family conflict, peer relationships, and the unsettled work of becoming oneself.

Couples

Partners looking to restore trust, communicate more honestly, and understand the patterns that pull you apart and back together.

LGBTQ2S+ Clients

An affirming space to explore identity, relationships, and the specific weight of moving through a world not built for you.

BIPOC Clients

Culturally-attuned care that holds the realities of racialized experience without asking you to translate or explain.

Newcomers to Canada

Support for the disorientation, grief, and resilience of starting over — language, family separation, identity, belonging.

Postpartum

Care for the enormous emotional terrain of new parenthood — anxiety, identity shift, relationship change, and the weight of expectation.
